Even if we banned all guns crazy people would still find a way to commit mass murders. They could make explosives, poison the water or kill with knives as is happening in China despite their ban on guns. -JJ

Judy:

Even if we banned all guns criminals, ex-convicts, gang-members, and terrorists would still find a way to obtain guns through black markets and other means of criminality. The innocents and the good would become sitting ducks cowering in our homes with no means of protection against onslaughts of marauding gangs. We would become as vulnerable and helpless as the Jews in Hungary and Germany before WWII. Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange and George Orwell’s 1984 would become a reality. Our dependence on the Law of the Land and those in power instead of our own inner voice would intensify to a point where our American roots of pride in our liberty would become unrecognizable. -Judy

During all the years I attended school I never heard of one school shooting anywhere in the country? What has changed? -JJ

I do not think the answer to what has changed is due to anything in the seen as much as the effects we are seeing are initiated by an unseen cause. The dark-side is preparing since decades ago for the oncoming energy burst from Shamballa. The agenda of the dark is quite obvious and they have been laying a foundation in preparation for the time when they can usurp the power of the good to inspire their followers: the overly self-centered ambitious and manipulative ones cut-off from reality and soul enough so to do their bidding via mind-control.

Their obvious agenda:

1.) School shootings using implanted mind-controlled agents 2.) Mall and Theater shootings using implanted mind-control agents 3.) Terrorists strikes (like in Libya) 4.) WMD expansion among countries run by their mind-controlled leaders 5.) WMD attacks by terrorists cells 6.) Bankruptcy of American dollar 7.) Irrational revolution via youth in capitalistic societies. 8.) Eradication of Christian religion replaced with secular atheism 8.) Corruption of youth with pornography and extreme violence via movie and record industries

The call for gun-control is expected because some people (especially those on the Left) feel powerless in the situation of these school shootings and want to do something to make it go away. They are reacting out of intense emotionalism to make decisions and follow a dark leader (Obama) down a primrose path that will lead to enslavement of the American people. These caught up in delusion and misled by illusion are not to blame because their hearts may be in the right place but they are limited in their ability to see the effects of consequence because they lack wisdom which comes only from soul contact. As in the days of Jesus, they know not what they do or what will be the consequence of their actions. They see a president who is weeping for children and I did not see any tears or a distortion of facial muscles when one begins to really weep. A person’s voice will quiver and change octave when one is almost weeping and tears can be seem on a person’s face. Instead I clearly saw a man clearly faking to regain composure by staring down in silence and then looking up to see if his act was effective. This is without prejudiced perspective on my part as I expected a real show of emotion for once.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four Nineteen Eighty-Four is a novel by George Orwell published in 1949. It is a dystopianand satirical novel set in Oceania, where society is tyrannized by The Party and itstotalitarian ideology.[1] The Oceanian province of Airstrip One is a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public mind control, dictated by a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (Ingsoc) under the control of a privileged Inner Party elite that persecutes all individualism and independent thinking asthoughtcrimes.[2] Their tyranny is headed by Big Brother, the quasi-divine Party leader who enjoys an intense cult of personality, but who may not even exist. Big Brother and the Party justify their rule in the name of a supposed greater good.[1] The protagonist of the novel, Winston Smith, is a member of the Outer Party who works for the Ministry of Truth (Minitrue), which is responsible for propaganda and historical revisionism. His job is to re-write past newspaper articles so that the historical record always supports the current party line.[3] Smith is a diligent and skillful worker, but he secretly hates the Party and dreams of rebellion against Big Brother.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Clockwork_Orange_(film) A Clockwork Orange is a 1971 film written, directed and produced by Stanley Kubrick, adapted from Anthony Burgess’ 1962 novella A Clockwork Orange. It features disturbing, violent images, facilitating its social commentary on psychiatry, youth gangs, and other social, political, and economic subjects in a dystopian, future Britain. Alex (Malcolm McDowell), the main character, is a charismatic, sociopathic delinquent whose interests include classical music (especially Beethoven), rape, and what is termed “ultra-violence”. He leads a small gang of thugs (Pete, Georgie, and Dim), whom he calls his droogs (from the Russian друг, “friend”, “buddy”). The film chronicles the horrific crime spree of his gang, his capture, and attempted rehabilitation via controversial psychological conditioning. Alex narrates most of the film in Nadsat, a fractured adolescent slang comprising Slavic (especially Russian), English, andCockney rhyming slang.

“We are going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this regardless of the politics.” The statement “regardless of the politics” tells us that the “meaningful action” will be action that will be resisted by many. -JJ

This president is slick. He will do very little but he will feed the frenzy every now and then with comments in his press conferences that will incite emotionalism about gun control. Even die-hard patriot-types will be calling for gun control when this is over. -Judy

Ruth writes: How do we help kids and adults who are severely depressed?

I know you have talked before about how bad these drugs are like Xanax etc.

So there must be some mid way point where some of these types of drugs are useful or even helpful as long as they are not abused or used for too long?

JJ There are some kids that are truly depressed for which some medication may be appropriate. The trouble is they are way over-prescribing and also prescribing at a much younger age than they should. They are giving kids drugs just so they will be easier to control rather than to help them with their problems. No one I knew took prescription mind altering drugs when I was in elementary and high school and all my friends had guns. No one felt like shooting up innocents just to take out their wrath.

Dan: Just info.

Unless I am greatly mistaken, in kansas (and I think many other states with concealed carry) those with CCW (CCH) permits may wear a concealed weapon anywhere, including schools, unless the school specifically places VERY particular special signage at every entrance (with particular height above ground, color, placement requirements) of every building (intent is not a factor, IOW, it matters not even if you know their intention is to keep out guns IFF the signage is not EXACTLY right). And they may not “sign” the premises, parking lots, etc areas, only buildings themselves.

Employees with CCW (CCH) may LEGALLY carry regardless of company (school) personnel policies but of course they will as well be subject to any company disciplinary action chooses if caught (by the company/school).

This means parents could, at the very least, easily set up an armed volunteer “neighborhood watch” or hired security detail OUTSIDE the building, say at the vehicle and etc entrances.

At least until they take our guns from our cold, dead fingers (or change the CCH laws :-) .

Dan: Xanax is a particularly nasty one expecially for the elderly.

DO NOT allow “them” to feed this to your loved one on a routine basis, it is for one time or short term use ONLY, for EXTREME, INCAPACITATING, UNREASONED fear.

It is NOT for generalized anxiety or worry or insomnia for crying the flip out loud – and is contraindicated in the elderly for a number of reasons, not the least of which is it causes PSEUDO-DEMENTIA and is EXTREMELY addictive (by which I mean, IF you stop taking it your symptoms return STRONGER than before).

Yet many doctors ROU-fucking-TINELY prescribe it in nursing homes every day for general anxiety or inability to sleep.

A 97 year old person I know was on it for several weeks because she wasn’t sleeping well due to worry and although normally has 95% of her faculties, was completely friggin nuts – a totally worthless, confused, lump of depressed incoherent flesh unable to carry on even the simplest of conversations/thoughts – until she was weaned.

If you have elderly in a “home”, in many cases the best thing you can do for them is have the meds discontinued. Ask a hospice nurse – many times if the end is nigh and they d/c the drugs, these folks often improve – at which time they usually start feeding them the dumdums again.

Okay, I’m done, soapbox back in its hideyhole for now.

JJ The disadvantage to this, as you pointed out, is that attackers would know who was armed and whom they had to take out first. But if a number of teachers have concealed weapons, and the would-be shooter doesn’t know who they are, he is more intimidated.

Larry Pratt of Gunowners of America (GOA) had it exactly right:

“Gun-control supporters have the blood of little children on their hands,” Larry Pratt, the group’s [GOA] executive director, said. “Federal and state laws combined to insure that no teacher, no administrator, no adult had a gun at the Newtown school where the children were murdered.

http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/gun-control-Connecticut-NRA/2012/12/14/id/46786\ 7

My wife teaches young children the same age as those murdered yesterday. At her school there is nothing physical to prevent an armed shooter from entering the school. You enter by the office, and if you are a law-abiding person you identify yourself at the office and sign in. But if you are a psycho, there is absolutely nothing, and no one who is armed, to stop you.

We were at a Christmas party last night for her school. The Vice Principal was talking to my wife about the shooting. She said that she always feels safer when there are parent/police officers in school because she knows they carry concealed handguns.

In Texas (and other states that allow concealed carry) there is mandated training to be allowed to carry concealed. We’ve had concealed carry for years in Texas and the people who get these licenses have proven themselves extremely law abiding.

> During all the years I attended school > I never heard of one school shooting > anywhere in the country? What has changed?

Kids on drugs. Lots of kids on powerful psychiatric drugs prescribed by doctors. So you take a deeply disturbed kid like this one yesterday, put him on powerful drugs that are known to cause depression and thoughts of suicide, and then because they are loners they end up playing hours and hours of “first shooter” video games that exactly mimic mass murder.

We didn’t have that growing up as kids.

> (2) Allow teachers and adult staff to take guns to school.

This makes way too much sense. When the concealed carry movement started years ago the gun-controllers argued it would lead to bloody mayhem. It has not. Where it has been done it has provably made people safer and lowered violent crime.

> There have been two main changes. The first is > our culture itself and the second is the forcing > of mind-altering drugs on our kids.

I agree, and we have to wonder why these psychos attack schools. Is it partly the fault of schools? Do our schools abuse children much more today than they used to? Maybe we ought to research how our schools have changed so they engender so much hatred from many kids.

lwk All schools I have seen have the required signs and any teacher or employee bringing a firearm onto school grounds who was caught would be immediately terminated. Texas law also specifically prohibits it:

Texas law:

PC §46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possesses or goes with a firearm, illegal knife, club, or prohibited weapon listed in Section 46.05(a): (1) on the physical premises of a school or educational institution, …

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/internetforms/forms/chl-16.pdf

I would bet most states have similar laws.

An unexpected consequence of these trajedies may eventually be the allowing of teachers to carry concealed on schools. I sure the hell hope so.

Dan: Can’t say about schools (as I don’t frequent such dangerous places :-) but most businesses I have seen here, while they have signage, that signage does not meet the statutory requirements and is therefore invalid.

According to the current AG’s office, Kansas specifically allows CONCEALED CARRY by CCW permitholders in school zones unless posted by the school according to the statutory requirements – particular signage from the AG, color, size, location, buildings only no outside areas, every external door MUST be posted or all invalid for that building, etc.

This applies ONLY to CONCEALED weapons carried by CCH PERMITholders, not to open carry by ANYBODY – permitholder or non.

Open carry even where legal (and there are many places they are in kansas) is NOT authorized by ANYBODY (except cops) within so many feet of a school – similar to drugs – can’t remember the exact distance.

Dan: Those of you that are concerned/have kids may want to SPECIFICALLY check your state’s laws regarding the federal firearms prohibition in school zones: [quote] “The federal law, 18 U.S.C. 922(q), requiring firearms to remain outside of 1,000 feet of a “school zone” has exceptions for individuals who are licensed to carry a firearm by the jurisdiction (state or local) where the school zone sits.” [endquote]

More from the Kansas AG’s CCH FAQ: “Q· I’ve heard that there is a law requiring me to keep any firearm outside of 1,000 feet of a school…as a licensee of Kansas, is this true?

Answer: No – if traveling through a Kansas “school zone.” The federal law, 18 U.S.C. 922(q), requiring firearms to remain outside of 1,000 feet of a “school zone” has exceptions for individuals who are licensed to carry a firearm by the jurisdiction (state or local) where the school zone sits.

Therefore, Kansas licensees have a built in exception to the general rule…licensees from other states, however, do not have this same exception while traveling in Kansas. Note: Kansas licensees do, however, need to be aware of schools that have posted their buildings with A.G. approved signage.

Q· I was picking up my child from elementary/high school the other day, and I noticed on the fence outside of the driveway to the school’s entryway the school had an A.G. approved sign posted. I thought only buildings were allowed to be posted…is this an “illegal” posting?

Answer: Although the signage placement in this example is not proper, there is nothing

illegal’ about an improperly posted sign.

• With a few exceptions, only buildings may be posted with compliant AG signage. Further, Kansas licensees have been granted access to K-12 school grounds through K.S.A. 2011 Supp. 21-6301(i)(5), which is an exception to the general rule of no firearms on the grounds (or buildings) of K-12 schools found under 21-6301(a)(11).

• The exceptions noted above include the Governor’s residential grounds (see K.S.A. 2011 Supp. 21-6309(c)(5)) and federal properties (see K.S.A. 75-7c10(e)). Federal properties (facilities and court facilities) are under no obligation to post AG approved signage.

• Note: If the school has its building entrances properly posted with AG approved no licensed concealed carry’ signage, then those signs must be obeyed.

Q· I am a student at a Kansas Board of Regents university/college. I am also a Kansas CCH licensee. Outside of the main entrances to campus properties are A.G. approved signs restricting concealed carry. Additionally, the school has student policies prohibiting firearms even those carried by CCH licensees. Is this proper?

• Answer: A Kansas college, university or community college is able to criminally prohibit (through proper posting) licensees (including students and staff) from carrying within the institution’s buildings. HOWEVER, the school’s administrative penalties may still be relevant so students and staff must still be cognizant of those penalties (see discussion above for employer vs. employee discussion). In short, for instance, an institution would not be able to report a crime for a student or staff licensee who stores their firearm in their vehicle – but they may still be able to expel the student or terminate the employee.” http://ag.ks.gov/public-safety/concealedcarry

lwk wrote: > All schools I have seen have the required signs and any teacher or > employee bringing a firearm onto school grounds who was caught > would be immediately terminated. Texas law also specifically > prohibits it:

Dan: Any unarmed teacher facing a gunman will likely be PERMANENTLY terminated along with the classroom full of kids for which he is responsible.

You can ALWAYS get another job but being responsible for killing that many kids . . . . may take lifetimes. THAT is how THAT should be looked at.

If you are capable, you are responsible. I’m a boyscout myself.

JJ “(1) Stop making drug addicts of our kids. It’s bad enough that the average adult is taking a half dozen or so drugs but so also are our elementary kids taking many prescribed drugs, and many of them are mood altering. Almost all the mass school shooters were taking a lot of prescription drugs. The two at Columbine did as well as the Virginia and Batman shooters. After taking these drugs long enough depression often sets in and they become disconnected to the real world. Shooting a bunch of kids seems like a fun video game to them.”

Johann It does not even take a video game as I do not think that that many kids in China even own a video game console but I do understand your analogy. Just look at this video I posted not far back: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Keysters/message/61505

Here kids are “reenacting” the theme of the video, I hope in innocent or even as a parody instead of a role model. But the “808″ they keep referring to, the one that keeps jumping is a gun model.

“I’m back with an 808

cause I’m bossy!” “Don’t want no problems We gon’ keep it bumpin’ while the 808 is jumpin’” “Me and my baby be closin’ the Phantom doors” “If niggaz don’t bite back you gon’ work ‘em Put your mack down, I know your background”

This amounts to a free pass or a free uncontrolled license to shoot up the place while others are expected to lower their defenses and get shot because of their “background”, a republican background perhaps? The phantom doors are of course if you don’t have it in your hand (in this case, money but it could be an manifested ideal) then you are a no more real than a phantom. Doors are something that you have to walk through so they expect a free ride. Cool? No.

Do we ban this type of music? No but it would be better if it was on late at night.

But my point was that you do not need a video game as such to get into the game mode because music could do the job just as well.

Again, it is about judgement and the TV stations have not been considerate to the parents and neither has the education system in their non response to the chancing of the times. And do parents allow kids and teenagers to play the rated shooters? Where is everybody?

Ultimately what has changed is the factor of responsibility and now they want to shift the responsibility to the guns themselves and that is pure nonsense, kind of like shifting all the responsibility to video games or music.

I don’t play video games that much, a round of Quake III Arena every few months if that but I used to play it extensively as it has a very free flowing game play. Made back in 1999 it looks cartoonist and I have never “suffered” from playing it. But if kids get into the very advanced graphical shooters of today and especially if there are underlying problems then that is a red flag. But shooters or music by and large do not MAKE people shoot the place up as with guns. They can be a bad influence combined with drugs and/or a lack of responsibility and critical thinking.

You are always responsible for your own behavior, something that seems to be forgotten in today’s culture. “And that’s right I’m the one that’s tattooed on his arm” Instead of leaning on the arm of the flesh or beastly leader or making something legit into something beastly as in: “Real girls get down on the floor” and forcing and/or expecting others to follow suit. “(On the floor, get down on the floor)” This negates personal and individual responsibility and thinking and introduces forced uniformity of thought in the vain hope of raising the standards and/or getting high. “Me and my girls we stay fly and I love to stay high.” No thought of the individual here except the “boss” armed with an 808 screaming on the track of life with unholy indignation shooting up the place, often with false accusations.

Quake3 Gameplay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaVhcnBiob0 for the curious.

But the most serious culprit are the drugs and it can only take one to produce such an effect.

JJ “May sane minds return to government.”

I agree.

lwk Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990

Definitions Title 18 U.S.C. §921(25) The term “school zone” means— (A) in, or on the grounds of, a public, parochial or private school; or (B) within a distance of 1,000 feet from the grounds of a public, parochial or private school. (26) The term “school” means a school which provides elementary or secondary education, as determined under State law.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun-Free_School_Zones_Act_of_1990

Think about the above for a minute. If I am a law abiding citizen, and I want to put my rifle in the car, even locked in the trunk unloaded, and drive through an urban area on my way to go hunting in the country, or to a rifle range, I am almost certainly violating the law. Drive though my neighborhood and try to _NOT_ to get within a 1,000 feet of some school. Nearly impossible. Does the iPhone “have an app for that,” to guide me through my neighborhood without approaching a school district by 1,000 feet? :)

In Texas right now they are talking about enacting an open carry law to allow holders of CCH permits to carry openly. Most people think of Texas as a place where in the “Old West” people rode around wearing guns. Was not true through. Even back in the 1870s that was not legal unless you were “travelling.”

johann Here is another to think about. The more impossible law they set the more the infractions are going to pile up leading to ever more “justifications” of “people are bad” and thus more laws until nothing is left of our freedoms.

It is sad that the left have taken the anti freedom stand in the face of this tragedy for it does nothing for the victims or the help to prevent such a thing happening in the future.

I was struck by the woman in the news story Tom posted, the one in the white shirt and black pants with the SUV in the background crying into her phone.

My heart goes out for the many victims, alive and dead.

Barbara: Back years ago when I taught 4th grade Sunday school, I used to teach the 10 commandments. We got into a discussion about losing your temper being a precursor to Thou Shalt Not Kill. I would demonstrate with the kids how an unkind word could escalate into rage etc. It was a wonderful tool for that age and I started the program all because a boy asked if pouting was a sin.

Susan: Open carry is legal in Arizona although you don’t see it too much. Many of my family members (including the women) have concealed weapons permits and go to the shooting ranges to practice. I imagine there will be more family members after this doing the same. I think it is time I joined them. I gave up my guns 30 years ago, but I think it is time to return to my Annie Oakley roots!
